• This event will feature food & drinks from New Orleans, Venice and Rio de Janeiro.
•  All proceeds from the event will benefit Gompers Preparatory Academy and The Burn Institute.
• If you live in proximity to Mission Valley and would rather get a ride, a bus will depart Mission Valley to take us to the party’s location in San Marcos, and return us to Mission Valley after the event.  The bus may make one additional stop in Del Mar or UTC to accommodate if needed.
•  Mardi Gras attire is strongly encouraged and we hope that you can make it!

• Lunch will be held at the Scottish Rite Center
• This is an annual luncheon that is hosted and sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of San Diego.  The luncheon will be attended by almost 100 San Diego ASB High School Presidents.  This luncheon honors the student’s accomplishments and acts as a bridge between the high school students and the San Diego business community.
• The luncheon’s cost is $30 and if you would like to sponsor a student, the cost would be $60
• I have attended the lunch for the past 3 years; it is a one of a kind event to have that many student leaders in one place.  It gives these kids a chance to ask us questions about our businesses, what was our career path etc.

I hope everyone had a terrific holiday – spent time with family, ate too much and enjoyed their time off. I have some unfortunate news. Due to the economy, job market and personal financial situation will be leaving San Diego just after the New Year. I have every intention to return to San Diego with a job and “re-join” Kiwanis; however, no one really knows what the future holds.

I want to thank everyone for all that they have done and say that it was a true pleasure to meet everyone. It was great to see this group begin to grow and I know it was no where to go but up. I wish everyone the best of luck and a happy New Year.

NO CLEAN UP THIS WEEK – Happy Holidays!”

This was found afterwords on the Surfrider web page, which is separate from the calendar that says there is a beach cleanup today. Again I’m sorry to all those who showed and I appreciate your understanding in the confusion.

The event at Monarch School in cooperation with Kiwanis of San Diego was a great success! Ryan dressed up as Santa, the kids had a great time, and the food provided by Mona Lisa’s was terrific. If you didn’t make it you truly missed out. Thanks again to everyone who helped out, and to Karina for taking the pictures!

Tuesday 12/15 12 – 1:30PM:  Kiwanis Lunch at the Bristol Hotel downtown.  Major Linda Markiewicz from the Salvation Army will speak about their holiday efforts and how we can help.

Monday 12/14 4 – 6PM:  We will host the kids of the Monarch School for dinner (the cost is $35).

• 5-6PM we will have dinner with the kids and a special Santa appearance
